2016 Nissan GT-R in Review
There isn’t much on the road that speaks to the exclusivity and performance of the Nissan GT-R. For 45 years now, Nissan has been delivering a sporty car with the punch and attitude to leave the competition in the dust. The 2016 Nissan GT-R lives up to its forebears, and even kicks it into a higher gear, making improvements on what’s already one of the best supercars on the road.
The Price you Gotta Pay
Of course, the Nissan GT-R isn’t for every budget. Nissan hasn’t backed off any on the price, keeping the base model up around $101,770, with the NISMO model going for $149,990 – plus destination charges, of course. And they aren’t the easiest Nissan to get your hands on. Great as the Altima is, the GT-R is a whole different animal. If you’re a serious buyer and you want one of the more exclusive trim packages, like the Premium, Black or 45th Anniversary Gold Edition, you’ll want to get in touch with your dealer sooner rather than later. They’re only available at select dealerships and only in limited numbers. The 45th Anniversary Gold Edition, for example, will be limited to 30 units sold in the United States. Of course, if you’re in the market for a Nissan GT-R, no price is too high for the quality and performance you’ve come to expect.
Want Power? GT-R Has Plenty to Spare
The Nissan GT-R has always delivered plenty of punch. The 2016 GT-R is no exception. In fact, Nissan has kicked it up a notch when it comes to performance, with standard GT-R’s boasting 545 hp and Premium and Black editions punching that up to 550 by way of added electronic tuning controls. Your need for speed even greater than that? The NIMSO combines a massive 600 horses with improved aerodynamics and body structure reinforcement to give the ultimate performance on the road today.
What’s more, all that power is delivered by the 3.8L twin-turbo V6. Who needs a V8? Nissan will outrun and outgun the V8s on the road with 6 turbocharged cylinders. Combine that with the sequential six-speed dual clutch transmission with paddle shifter and all wheel drive and you’re ready to outrun anything on the road.
Whether you’re driving on the road or saving your GT-R for the track, the Premium edition allows you the customization options you need to get the performance you demand. You can customize your shock absorber dampening, trannie response and more.
So, What about the 45th Anniversary Gold Edition?
If you love the current design and style of the GT-R, this is the year to get one. Next year, the GT-R is due for a redesign. The 45th Anniversary Gold Edition is built on the GT-R Premium platform, with the 20-spoke RAYS aluminum allow wheels with premium dark finish (and upgrade from the 10-spoke design on standard models). Like the Premium model, it also features 600 DSST CTT high performance run-flat tires.
So, what sets it apart from the Premium model? Start with the exclusive gold paint color, complemented with VIN plate in gold tone. You want exclusive? Not only are these cars limited, they come with a commemorative special edition center console commemorative plate. Like we said, there are only 30 available in the U.S., so if you want one, speak now or forever hold your peace.
